Hellingly Lions Cycle Speedway

We are the Hellingly Lions Cycle Speedway Club and race at our circuit at Lower Dicker which is just half a mile north of the Boship Roundabout on the A22 (see the Contact page for directions). Our bikes are purpose built, have no brakes, no gears and dirt tyres. We race on an oval compacted shale track (as seen below) there are four riders in each heat and circle the track four times with most heats lasting no longer than 60 seconds, each rider can ride five times in a match (hence as above 'do you have five minutes to spare'). You think 60 seconds sounds easy? Cycle speedway is classed as 'sprint-cycling and the riders are 'flat-out' for those 60 seconds - so have a go!.

Hoppa Stoolball Team

The game of Stoolball dates back to the 15th century & may be an ancestor of cricket, baseball & rounders as it can sometimes be called “cricket in the air”!

Hoppa Stoolball Club, a mixed club with 6 men & 5 ladies, was founded in 2015 when a group of parents who played Stoolball wanted to introduce their children to the game. We entered the Eastbourne Red Triangle Stoolball League in Division 4. Our aim is to bring juniors (Year 6-10) into the game in a friendly environment.

Hellingly WI

The members of Hellingly WI would welcome any ladies who would like to come along for a visit to one of their meetings, and maybe join us in the future. We are a small group of friendly ladies who meet once a month in Hellingly Village Hall, on the first Tuesday of the month at 2.30.

We enjoy: speakers with a large range of interests, lunch outings to places of members’ choice, we visit other Wls, for Group meetings and to celebrate their Anniversaries. We have a garden party in the summer, and an annual afternoon outing. But one of the important parts of our organisation is the making of new friends.

Hellingly WI was started in 1918, so last year we were proud to celebrate 95 years of continual presence in the Parish. So, if you would like to help us to reach our 100th Birthday, DON’T BE SHY COME AND GIVE US A TRY

Please contact 01323 442592.
