Early in May the final public consultation on the Draft Plan will commence. It is a statutory consultation held under Regulation 16 of the Neighbourhood Planning (General) Regulations 2012 (as amended) under which local businesses, residents, community and interest groups can make formal representations in support of or objection to the Draft Plan. The consultation period will last for six weeks. The Draft Plan can be viewed on the Hellingly Parish Council website and hard copies will be available for inspection at the Hailsham Public Library in Western Road, Hailsham and at the Wealden District Council offices in Vicarage Lane, Hailsham.

The District Council will pass all representations to the Planning Inspectorate who will examine the Draft Plan. A public local hearing may be held if considered necessary. If the examiner approves the Draft Plan as having followed the correct procedures and being in a compliance with Government and Local Planning policies, Wealden District Council will take a decision to proceed to referendum of all registered electors within Hellingly Parish towards the end of this year.

It is intended that the consultation on both the Hellingly and Hailsham Neighbourhood Development Plans will be held concurrently and, for convenience, considered by the same examiner. If all goes well and they are approved by the referendums, they will be the first such Plans to be adopted in Wealden following the one for Herstmonceux.

Regular updates will be placed in the Hellingly Highlights.

Revised Pre-Submission Draft - Steering Group Meeting which took place on 3rd March 2018

The Council is leading on the production of a Neighbourhood Development Plan (NDP) for the parish of Hellingly. The first step in the process was to make an application to Wealden District Council to designate the area for the Plan, following consultation during September and October, the whole Parish was designated as the Plan area.

The Council have set up a Steering Group to oversee the process and a Project Team to undertake the work, the minutes of the Steering Group meetings can be seen on the Steering Group page. The Council is keen to involve the public in this process as much as possible and have organised a number of Discussion Groups, the notes from these groups are available on the Discussion Groups page. Following all the Discussion Groups a questionnaire will be produced which will be sent to all residents in the parish. This questionnaire will form the basis of the production of the NDP.

Regular updates will be placed in the Hellingly Highlights.
