December was certainly our busiest month ever. We saw a 95% increase with 383 emergency food parcels being handed out to local people, compared to 196 for December 2018. In those numbers we are sadly seeing a large increase in families - of the 383 people fed, 216 of them were children aged 16 or under compared to 71 in December 2018.
We had a lovely financial blessing from an individual with the request that it be used to purchase poultry/meat to help families with the Christmas meal. Working with Ben at Sussex Larder we were able to help 20 families through this truly kind gesture.
We can only give a HUGE THANK YOU to all who have given food, financial support and time to support the work of Hailsham Foodbank, without the generous support of the local community we would be unable to help those in crisis.
On Saturday 21 December we were able to give families (almost 200 people) the opportunity to attend Hailsham Cinema to watch Frozen 2, it was a very happy atmosphere and an excellent film. Huge thank you to Paul Nunney, manager of The Pavilion, for gifting the venue to us.
After the film, over 50 people attended our Holiday Shack at Christchurch at Ropemaker Park, where they received presents and shared a buffet meal served by volunteers and our helpful Elf.
